(a) Ground state : When an atom has the lowest energy, it is in the stable state.
(b) Excited state : If the atom absorbs certain amount of energy, it will make a transition to a higher energy level.
(c) Ionization energy : energy required to lift the electron from the ground state to the point of breaking free from the nucleus.
(d) Excitation energy :energy absorbed by the electron to make a transition from lower energy level to a higher energy level.
